After acquiring the two plots with a total size of approx. 30,000 square meters in 2020 and 2021, this is now the starting signal for the implementation of the projects. Both developments are located almost next to each other in the heart of Cologne-Ehrenfeld on Widdersdorfer Strasse. This puts them in the middle of an enormously dynamic environment with numerous new buildings that are planned or will be built in the next few years. For example, the Pandion project PAN is in the immediate vicinity. We strive for close cooperation with these other projects to ensure that the concepts are interlinked as efficiently as possible and to provide all parties with the highest level of accessibility.
With THE WID ONE and TWO, we are clearly pursuing the goal of preserving the commercial character and cultural charm of Ehrenfeld while making it fit for the future. We are very pleased to be able to develop an urban meeting place for the most heterogeneous areas of commercial use in the center of Cologne West. Of course, we will also plan areas for training and educational institutions as well as for cultural uses. The aim is to have a truly sustainable impact here in all areas of non-residential real estate in Cologne. It goes without saying that we have the highest sustainability standards for both projects and will lead by example.
The next step is to develop the architectural concepts for the two projects. We are thinking about merging the architecture of the traditional industrial district of Ehrenfeld with the designs of the new, modern working world. The initial ideas are already promising, and we look forward to revealing more details soon!
