Alfons & alfreda Appointed as Service Developer for an Office-to-Hotel Conversion in Cologne

On behalf of a Canadian pension fund @Avison Young Investment Management has appointed @Alfons & alfreda as execution partner and service developer for the conversion of the former KPMG headquarters at Barbarossaplatz in Cologne.

End-to-End Responsibility

The project will be managed end-to-end by our team, based on our expertise in complex urban redevelopment and hotel projects. We are closely involved in key decisions and maintain continuous coordination with all stakeholders to ensure a successful and efficient redevelopment process.

The six-story building with c. 15,000 sqm GFA will be converted into a @MEININGER Hotel with more than 305 rooms and over 1,160 beds. The opening is scheduled for the second quarter of 2029.

An Established Partnership

The project continues an established collaboration with MEININGER as a tenant. Our team previously developed the MEININGER Hotel Cologne West at OVUM in a joint venture with Fay Projects and now brings this experience to this complex office-to-hotel conversion in this central urban location.

We are pleased to bring the full expertise of our platform, particularly in development and refurbishment, to this exiting future-oriented project and to take responsibility on behalf of the owner.

Together with @Avison Young Investment Management and MEININGER Hotels, we look forward to shaping the next chapter at Barbarossaplatz.
